What motivates you in the fight against HIV/AIDS?
What motivates me in the fight against HIV/AIDS is the constant need to educate my community on reducing the risk of infection. I have watched many of my closest friends and mentors die from this terrible disease, and I will not rest until we find a cure. I want to show my community that we can defeat HIV/AIDS.
What is your community doing in the fight against HIV/AIDS?
My community is doing more than their share in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We constantly educate our transgender youth on HIV transmission. We also advocate for those who are positive, linking them to respectful, reliable care with the most transgender-competent physicians and health care providers.
What does your community need to know about an HIV vaccine?
My community needs to know this about an HIV vaccine—This is an opportunity and a remarkable possibility for a breakthrough in treatment for HIV. We have the opportunity to finally protect ourselves from this disease like never before, so we shouldn't fear the option of a HIV vaccine. Like it or not, we will be leaders in this new endeavor, and we should stand by it 100%.
